This year's 'Most Improved Player' award has been presented to Lucy Rix for her continued progress on Cornet. Lucy has become a leading player in the band and recently took on the position of Principal Cornet for the band's first bandstand concert of the year in Malvern, also performing her first solo with the band, Annie's Song.
The band's second 'Special Recognition Award' was also presented at the AGM, to Chris Wilsdon. Chairman, David Hemingway, presented a certificate 'in appreciation of extraordinary commitment and generosity towards Malvern Hills District Brass Band through his role of Principal Cornet'. Chris has been a member of the band for 20 years and has sat as principal cornet for almost half that time, having rejoined the band after returning to Malvern from University. Chris has since married the band's percussionist, Carly, and has now stepped down from the 'hot seat' to help bring up their new son.
